Hello, I’m Aman Chourasia

I am a BS-MS dual degree student at CET, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, in Computer Science and Data Analytics. I am pursuing my education in hybrid mode of instruction and am expected to graduate in July 2030 (i'm currently in my third semester).

My research interests are primarily in computational science and its numerical analysis. I have research experience on computational fluid dynamics, machine learning and software engineering. I have previously interned at ISI Kolkata, IIT (BHU) and IIT Guwahati.

Questions that I like to think about may include, "How can we compute this efficiently?", "What does historical data tell us?", "How can we simulate this physical event?", "How accurate and stable is this calculation?", "Can AI truly learn physical laws?".

Will Neural Operators Replace Numerical Solvers?

Aman Chourasia*
Submitted to Proceedings of the Indian National Science Academy
  • Compares FNO with conventional numerical solvers for repeated PDE simulations, evaluating solver time, training and preparation cost, inference speed, memory usage, predictive accuracy, and cumulative computational cost across Burgers and periodic heat equations.
  • Shows that neural operators can deliver substantially faster individual predictions, but their overall advantage depends on simulation workload, training investment, accuracy requirements, and break-even thresholds, with benefits emerging at approximately 2.98×10³ simulations for baseline Burgers and 2.75×10⁴ for the heat equation.
